The Origin
In 2015, in a town about 90 minutes northeast of Calgary, there wasn't a single consulting firm within driving distance. If a local business needed help with a vendor contract or a governance audit, their options were: pay a national firm's travel fees or figure it out alone. Most figured it out alone.
Sarah Macleod — the firm's founder — didn't set out to build a company. She was helping a neighbor renegotiate a facilities contract over coffee. Then another neighbor asked about their audit findings. Then the town's school board called. The phone kept ringing, and saying "no" felt wrong when people genuinely had nowhere else to turn.
So Westfield Capital Ltd. became real. Named after the road Sarah grew up on, not after some aspirational abstraction. And from the beginning, one rule stuck: every client, no matter how large the engagement grows, gets treated like a neighbor asking for help over coffee. The office moved to Calgary in 2017. The principle didn't move an inch.
